Step-by-step checklist protocol for safe and efficient concrete deliveries

Detailed Inspection Procedures

Follow these step-by-step procedures for key inspection areas of your concrete mixer truck to ensure thorough evaluation of critical systems.

Air Brake Inspection Procedure

  • Start engine and build air pressure to operating range (100-125 psi)
  • Turn off engine, release parking brake, and apply foot brake
  • Hold foot brake for 1 minute - pressure drop should not exceed 3 psi
  • Start engine and rebuild to operating pressure
  • Turn off engine and press/release foot brake - observe gauge drop
  • Low pressure warning should activate at approximately 60 psi
  • Continue pressing brake until parking brake pops out (20-40 psi)
  • Start engine and check parking brake by attempting to drive forward

Drum Inspection Method

  • Ensure truck is parked on level ground with parking brake set
  • Visually inspect exterior for damage, cracks, or concrete buildup
  • Rotate drum slowly and listen for unusual sounds
  • Check drum drive components for leaks or excessive wear
  • Inspect interior fins with flashlight for buildup or damage
  • Test drum controls in both directions at varying speeds
  • Verify charge hopper is clean and safety grate is intact
  • Check all hydraulic connections for leaks or damage

  • Inspect main chute for cracks, damage, or concrete buildup
  • Deploy main chute and check hydraulic operation
  • Verify all extension chutes are present and properly secured
  • Check extension chute connection points for wear
  • Inspect chute rack for security and proper storage
  • Test chute wash-out system for proper water flow
  • Ensure all chute lock pins are present and functional
  • Return chutes to stored position and secure for travel

Water System Validation
