Articulated Hauler – Maintenance Procedure Guide

Follow this checklist procedure to ensure uptime, safety, and compliance in heavy-duty operations.

Detailed Maintenance Procedures

Follow these step-by-step procedures for key maintenance tasks on your articulated hauler to ensure proper service and maximum component life.

Articulation Joint Maintenance

  • Park hauler on level ground in straight position
  • Engage parking brake and shut down engine
  • Install articulation lock for safety
  • Clean area around articulation joint thoroughly
  • Inspect articulation joint bearings for wear or play
  • Check all mounting bolts for proper torque
  • Inspect articulation cylinders for leaks or damage
  • Lubricate all grease points until fresh grease appears
  • Check steering stops for damage or adjustment
  • Inspect frame around joint for cracks or deformation
  • Remove articulation lock and test full range of motion
  • Verify smooth articulation with no binding or noise

Hydraulic System Service

  • Operate machine to reach normal operating temperature
  • Park on level ground and lower dump body
  • Shut down engine and relieve hydraulic pressure
  • Clean areas around fill cap and filters before removal
  • Drain hydraulic oil into appropriate container
  • Replace main hydraulic filters and breather
  • Inspect inside of tank for contamination if possible
  • Refill with proper hydraulic fluid to correct level
  • Start engine and cycle all hydraulic functions slowly
  • Check for leaks at all connections and components
  • Recheck fluid level after system warm-up
  • Test full hydraulic system functionality

Suspension System Inspection

  • Park hauler on level ground
  • Check suspension height at all positions
  • Inspect suspension cylinders for leaks or damage
  • Check nitrogen pressure in accumulators if equipped
  • Inspect all suspension mounting points for cracks
  • Examine all bushings and bearings for wear
  • Verify all suspension hydraulic lines are secure
  • Check for hydraulic leaks at all connections
  • Inspect crossmembers and structure for damage
  • Test suspension functionality under load
  • Document any abnormal suspension behavior
  • Adjust nitrogen charge if required per specifications

Brake System Maintenance

  • Park on level surface and chock wheels
  • Check brake accumulator pressure
  • Inspect brake system for leaks at all components
  • Test service brake function and pedal feel
  • Test parking brake and holding capability
  • Check emergency brake system function
  • Verify brake cooling system is operating properly
  • Inspect brake discs for wear and damage
  • Check brake pads/linings for thickness and condition
  • Test retarder operation through full range
  • Verify brake warning systems function correctly
  • Document all measurements and test results
